IDEA Project

IDEA Project was designed to explore the potentially zoonotic
infectious agents circulating in Sri Lanka.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Training workshops

IDEA project organizes workshops to train professionals in molecular diagnostics.

Technical advice

We provide technical support to set up facilities for molecular diagnostics.

Building Diagnostic Capacity
IDEAnet conducts intensive hands-on workshops for healthcare professionals across Sri Lanka. These sessions focus on critical areas including RT-PCR assay design, optimization, and troubleshooting. Participants gain practical experience in developing and validating in-house diagnostic assays, ensuring cost-effective and efficient testing solutions for their institutions. Our training programs emphasize quality control measures and standardized protocols, essential for reliable diagnostic services.
Research and Innovation
The project maintains a strong focus on research and development through the IDEA Laboratory at the University of Colombo. Here, teams work on developing novel diagnostic approaches, validating testing methods, and conducting surveillance for emerging pathogens. This research component ensures that our diagnostic capabilities evolve with changing healthcare needs while contributing to the global scientific community’s understanding of emerging diseases.
Network Development
IDEAnet is actively building a comprehensive network connecting healthcare facilities across Sri Lanka. This network facilitates knowledge sharing, technical support, and collaborative research opportunities. Through regular workshops, seminars, and training sessions, we’re creating a community of skilled professionals capable of addressing current and future diagnostic challenges.
